If you ever thought those were just plain cement steps, hold on until the waves start to play their song. And you’ll see they’re far from ordinary. (Video below)
Introducing the world’s most amazing musical instrument, which is played not by human hands but by the ocean itself. Revealed to everyone in 2005, this wonder quickly became a popular tourist spot, attracting crowds with its enchanting sounds.
Created by Nikola Bašić, a Croatian designer, the sea organ was made to boost the charm of Zadar’s shoreline.
Like stairs going down into the water, its lower steps let water and air flow in. This then travels to sound chambers under the surface. From there, they are sent up to the top staircase creating beautiful tunes as waves come and go.
Zadar has healed from being damaged during World War II and later conflicts in 1991; it now finds peace in these calming sounds of this special creation. Its soothing melodies seem to wash away past troubles for both locals and tourists.
Now you can relax on these steps while enjoying a sunset with friends surrounded by peaceful music.
