What Caitlyn Jenner’s kids called her after her transition has fans turning heads

Caitlyn Jenner rose to fame as a prominent athlete in the 1970s, achieving global recognition when she won a gold medal and set a new world record in the decathlon at the 1976 Montreal Olympics. Her athletic prowess led to various opportunities in the entertainment industry. However, Jenner’s journey took a significant turn when she publicly came out as transgender and began hormone treatments for gender transition, a courageous decision that turned her into a role model for many.

Born William Bruce Jenner on October 28, 1949, in Mount Kisco, New York, Caitlyn struggled with dyslexia during her early years. Despite academic challenges, she found solace and success in athletics. In high school, Jenner excelled in football, basketball, and water skiing, but it was track and field that truly captured her passion. After a knee injury ended her football career at Graceland College, she focused on track and field, eventually being persuaded by her coach, L.D. Weldon, to train for the Olympic decathlon.

Jenner’s hard work paid off when she won the Kansas Relays in 1971 and made the US Olympic team, finishing 10th in the decathlon at the 1972 Munich Olympics. Determined to excel, she embarked on an intense training regimen, leading to her record-setting performance at the 1976 Montreal Olympics. Her victory came at a crucial time for the United States, providing a sense of pride and inspiration amid the turmoil of the Vietnam War and Watergate scandal.

Despite her public persona as a symbol of masculinity, Jenner privately struggled with her gender identity. After her Olympic triumph, she faced the challenges of fame, becoming a national icon and securing numerous endorsement deals. However, behind the public facade, she felt empty and disconnected from her true self. In 1971, Jenner married Chrystie Scott, with whom she had two children, Burt and Cassandra. Jenner’s struggle with her identity contributed to their eventual separation.

Jenner continued to battle her gender identity issues, undergoing various treatments and procedures in the late 1980s. Despite initial plans to fully transition before her 40th birthday, she halted the process due to societal pressures and personal fears. After two more marriages and additional children, Jenner’s journey towards self-acceptance continued.

In 2015, she resumed her transition and publicly embraced her identity as Caitlyn Jenner. Her openness about her journey has inspired many and brought greater awareness to transgender issues. Despite the changes, Jenner retains connections to her past, with her children sometimes calling her “dad.” Today, Jenner is celebrated not only for her athletic achievements but also for her bravery and advocacy, serving as a role model for those facing similar struggles.
