Dolly Parton covers The Beatles’ “Let It Be” with the help of Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr — listen to it here

After over 50 years in the music industry, Dolly Parton is finally a true rock star. The beloved country legend is releasing her long-promised rock album, Rockstar, featuring some of the biggest names in music history.

Dolly’s newest single from the album is a cover of The Beatles’ classic “Let it Be.” This cover is extraordinary as it features both living Beatles, Sirs Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. It’s a rare and significant collaboration, also including Peter Frampton on guitar and Mick Fleetwood on drums.

The spiritual, gospel-influenced track is a perfect fit for the 77-year-old country superstar, and Dolly’s rendition has been well-received by critics and fans alike. “I got goosebumps with the first few words… by halfway through I was in tears!” one YouTube comment reads. Another fan remarked, “Great rendition of an iconic song by the icons themselves!”

“Let it Be,” first released in 1970, remains one of the most beloved and inspiring songs from The Beatles’ prolific catalog. Though credited to Lennon-McCartney, it was written by Paul McCartney after a dream about his late mother. The song was the Beatles’ last single before their breakup in 1970, giving it a bittersweet association with the band’s farewell.

Dolly Parton’s Rockstar is set to be released on November 17. Parton first teased the idea of a rock album last year when she initially declined her nomination to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, feeling she hadn’t “earned the right” yet. However, she later accepted the nomination and began working on this rock album, which includes several new songs written by her and covers of classic rock songs with original artists.

Rockstar’s track listing includes “Every Breath You Take” featuring Sting, “Baby, I Love Your Way” with Peter Frampton, “Heart of Glass” with Debbie Harry, “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” with Elton John, and “Free Bird” with Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Dolly has also released singles like “World on Fire,” a cover of Queen’s “We Are the Champions”/“We Will Rock You,” and “Bygones,” along with a cover of Heart’s “Magic Man” featuring Ann Wilson.

Please share this story if you’re excited for Dolly’s new rock album!
