Homemade Cheese in Just 5 Minutes: Here’s the Easy Way to Make It

Did you know that you can make homemade cheese in just 5 minutes?

Yes, it’s true.

With only a few simple ingredients, you can prepare a fresh, flavorful cheese that is cheaper, faster, and often tastier than many store-bought options.

Ingredients

To get started, gather these ingredients:

  • 1 liter of whole milk (4 cups) or low-fat milk (1.7%)
  • 3 tablespoons of white vinegar
  • 20 grams of salted or unsalted butter

If you prefer, you can also replace the white vinegar with lemon juice.

Preparing the Milk

Begin by adding a little water to the pot, just enough to lightly cover the bottom. This helps prevent the milk from burning.

Next, pour in the milk and add the white vinegar, adjusting it according to the type of milk you are using. Heat the milk over low to medium heat, stirring occasionally so it does not stick or burn.

As the milk warms up, you will notice it starting to thicken and form curds. Continue stirring gently until a thick layer of foam appears on the surface. Be careful not to let it boil.

Once the milk begins to separate, turn off the heat.

Straining the Curds

Now it is time to separate the curds from the whey.

Place a strainer over a clean bowl and pour the curdled milk into it. Gently press the mixture with a spatula to remove the excess whey. If you do not have a strainer, a cheesecloth works just as well.

Blending the Cheese

Transfer the strained curds into a blender and add the butter.

Blend on high speed until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy. For extra flavor, you can add a little salt to taste.

Once it is fully blended, transfer the homemade cheese onto a plate lined with cheesecloth. Press out any remaining liquid and allow it to dry completely.

Congratulations — your homemade cheese is ready.

Storage Tips

Store your homemade cheese in a glass jar and keep it refrigerated for up to 5 days.

Final Thoughts

Making cheese at home is easier than many people think. With a few basic ingredients and just a few minutes of preparation, you can enjoy a fresh and creamy homemade cheese that is both simple and delicious.
