Barbra Streisand, an iconic figure in Hollywood, recently stirred controversy with her fervent online defense of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. Streisand alleged that Willis was being targeted by conservatives in a ploy to exploit her personal life to undermine her professional reputation.
In a post on X, the esteemed singer and actress asserted that Willis’s only transgression was seeking a private relationship with Nathan Wade, a subordinate prosecutor she enlisted in the investigation of Trump and 18 co-defendants charged with racketeering linked to Georgia’s 2020 election outcomes.
“On Monday, Streisand exclaimed, ‘How absurd that Republicans seek to oust Fani Willis. For what? Presuming a woman can’t maintain a private life alongside a professional one? Men do it routinely! How preposterous is this?’
She continued, ‘Trump and his allies assail Fani Willis, the DA prosecuting him for his bid to subvert the will of Georgia voters. Her private relationship with one of the prosecutors bears no relevance to the case’s merits. Trump’s blatant endeavor to pressure the Secretary of State to ‘find’ additional votes for him and to present false electors to Congress is the crux of the matter. This is simply another diversion tactic by Trump.’”
