Former U.S. President Donald Trump has publicly addressed the disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, describing the situation as “terrible” and expressing concern for the family as the search continues.
Nancy Guthrie, 84, was reported missing on February 1. Authorities say she was last seen at her home in the Catalina Foothills area late in the evening on January 31. What began as a missing persons case has since been described by investigators as more serious. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told reporters that evidence at the home led authorities to believe Nancy may have been taken against her will.
According to the sheriff, investigators do not believe she left the home on her own. He also noted that Nancy has limited mobility, making it less likely that she wandered away. Officials have shared that her health conditions require regular medication, increasing the urgency of the search.

Trump was asked about the case during a press briefing and shared supportive remarks for the Guthrie family. He stated that the situation was very concerning and said he intended to reach out personally. He also indicated that federal resources could assist local law enforcement if needed.
Local authorities continue to ask for public assistance. Sheriff Nanos urged anyone with credible information to contact law enforcement, emphasizing the importance of timely tips. The White House also shared a public message encouraging people to report information and expressing hope for Nancy’s safe return.
The investigation remains active. Officials stress that updates will come from law enforcement sources and encourage the public to rely on verified information.
