The White House has made some changes to the presidential residence’s ‘Walk of Fame’ this week, specifically throwing shade at Donald Trump’s predecessors.

The once-empty walkway was adorned for the first time earlier this year by the Republican frontman’s team, with official black-and-white portraits of past politicians being hung on the wall.

The collection first stoked some attention when it was noted that, instead of including photos of the 46th President and his political ‘frenemy’, Joe Biden, Trump used an image of an autopen signing his name.

The father of five has repeatedly alleged that Biden relied on such a machine to sign vital documents on his behalf during his presidency.

As we say, however, Trump’s administration has since made a major addition to the collection, affixing metal plaques beneath each official portrait, supposedly aimed at ‘summarising’ their terms in office.

As is abundantly clear, however, he couldn’t resist adding some personal touches to each description and seemingly took the opportunity to fire shots at a handful of leaders who came before him.

“The plaques are eloquently written descriptions of each President and the legacy they left behind,” the White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, said this week.

“As a student of history, many were written directly by the President himself.”

Underneath a black and white image of Obama, the 79-year-old described the 44th president as ‘one of the most divisive political figures in American history’, referencing his ‘highly ineffective “Unaffordable” Care Act’ and claiming it resulted in his party ‘losing control of both Houses of Congress, and the Election of the largest House Republican majority since 1946’.

Trump also accused Obama, 64, of having ‘presided’ over a ‘stagnant Economy’, ‘approved the terrible Iran Nuclear Seal’ and signed the ‘one-sided Paris Climate Accords’.

The plaque further claimed: “Under Obama, the ISIS Caliphate spread across the Middle East, Libya collapsed into chaos, and Russia invaded and took Crimea, in Ukraine.”

Obama was also accused of ‘crippling’ small businesses, ‘devastating’ coal miners, and ‘weaponising IRS and Federal bureaucracies against his political opponents’.

Joe Biden

Under the portrait of the politician who came before him, Trump began with the descriptor ‘Sleepy Joe Biden’ and slammed the 83-year-old as the ‘worst President in American History’.

He referred to Biden’s 2020 win as the ‘most corrupt Election ever seen’, and claimed the Democratic leader ‘oversaw a series of unprecedented disasters’ – including the ‘highest inflation ever recorded’, and his ‘abolishing’ of the Southern Border, the latter of which is said to have brought in ‘prisoners’ and ‘insane individuals’.

“His Afghanistan Disaster was amongst the most humiliating events in American history,” the plaque continued, adding: “Seeing Biden’s devastating weakness, Russia invaded Ukraine, and Hamas terrorists launched the heinous October 7th attack on Israel.”

Reiterating Biden’s ‘sleepy’ and ‘crooked’ nicknames, Trump also accused him of being ‘dominated by his Radical Left handlers’.

What did the other presidential plaques say?

When it came to the past presidents, like Robert Reagan and Richard Nixon, he gave them much kinder descriptions.

The former was described as a ‘Great Communicator’, with the White House noting he was ‘re-elected in a landslide in 1984’ and left ‘office with high approval’.

“He was a fan of President Donald J. Trump long before President Trump’s Historic run for the White House,” the message continued. “Likewise, President Trump was a fan of his!”

Richard Nixon, meanwhile, was praised as having had ‘one of the greatest political comebacks in American History’, and winning ‘the largest popular vote victory in American History’.

The White House also gave props to President Gerald Ford in his description, for having issued a ‘brave Pardon to Richard Nixon’.

What did Trump’s plaque say?

Unsurprisingly, on his own plaque, Trump took the opportunity to shower himself in praise, framing his 2024 election success as having overcome the ‘unprecedented Weaponization of Law Enforcement against him, as well as two assassination attempts’.

He also claimed to have ‘delivered’ on the numerous promises he made during his January inauguration, as part of his ‘Golden Age of America’.

The dubious message also insisted that, since returning to the White House, Trump had ended world wars, secured borders and deported alleged gang members.

What have people said about the plaques?

Naturally, the West Wing’s latest additions haven’t gone down well with many observers, who have accused Trump of attempting to defame the legacy of those who came before him.

Amongst them is California governor Gavin Newsom, who refuted Trump’s claims about himself on X: “Inflation is up. Unemployment is up. Grocery prices are up. Electricity costs are up. And Donald Trump is spending his time doing this bull***t.”

Retired US Army General Barry R McCaffrey also voiced his disbelief, adding: “Appalling. Embarrassing. Juvenile. Something very wrong here.”

One Reddit user also agreed: “I know there are bigger things to worry about, and everyone already knows this, but Jesus f*****g Christ, what a loser.”

Another continued: “Trump is a pathetic bully. These people live rent free in his mind because they are better than him, and he knows it.”

“He comes across so jealous and petty about the class and humanity of prior presidents,” a third also wrote. “He knows he falls far short of even the lowest of bars, and so he acts out like this.

“Deep and well-founded insecurity. Not a good look.”
