Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi Relocating from the U.S

Ellen DeGeneres and her family⁣ have shared that they are leaving the United States.

This isn’t the first major change in DeGeneres’s life, as⁢ she also ⁤recently said‍ she is retiring from‌ show business.

The comedian and past talk show host, famous for her 19-season run‍ on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, ‍revealed that her Netflix special, filmed on August 16, 2024, will be her final project in the ⁤industry.

This announcement came ‌at the same time⁤ as her 16th wedding ⁢anniversary with Portia de Rossi, a moment she ⁢called ‘lucky and special.’

Now, they are preparing to leave the US and move overseas.

DeGeneres became well-known by hosting her daytime talk ‌show which mixed comedy⁢ with ⁢celebrity ‍interviews and touching⁤ human-interest stories.

However, the show ended in 2022 after claims of a toxic‍ work environment‌ surfaced including accusations of harassment and discrimination.

While DeGeneres herself wasn’t blamed for any ‌wrongdoing, this scandal greatly ⁤affected how people viewed her. She ‌has mostly kept ‌away from⁢ public life since then.

Recently though, she made a comeback with Ellen’s‌ Last Stand… ‌Up Tour⁢ which she confirmed would be her goodbye to TV ⁤and movies.

Looking back on all the ups ⁢and downs of her career she stated: “This is the last time you’re going to see me. After my Netflix special I’m done.”

The trouble ⁣surrounding her show started in 2020⁣ when BuzzFeed⁢ released articles ⁢claiming there was a toxic workplace culture.

These reports ‌included statements ⁤from current and former staff members; one said: “That ‘be kind’ nonsense only happens when cameras are rolling. It’s all an act.”

Another remarked: “It’s up to her to ‌go beyond‍ what producers tell.”

Even though ⁤DeGeneres ⁤spoke about these issues publicly⁣ admitting that things happened ‌on set ‘that should never have occurred,’ this scandal changed‍ everything for her career.

In stand-up shows since then she’s used humor to deal with what happened.

Making light of it all she joked: “This is my second time being kicked ⁣out of showbiz… Eventually they’ll kick me out again because I’m mean old & gay.”

Despite making jokes ‍about it all ,she recognized how hard it was personally saying it ⁣was ‘devastating’⁢ & noting it really hurt how⁢ she felt about herself .

Besides changes ⁣in work ,DeGeneres & Portia⁢ de ⁤Rossi have also made big personal decisions ⁤.

The couple known for their love of⁤ real‌ estate in Montecito California recently moved ⁣to U.K .

Reports say⁤ their move was influenced by Donald Trump winning reelection . ‌

They’ve flipped over twenty-one properties around⁣ Santa Barbara County but‌ decided they needed ‘to get out’ after Trump won ⁣.

Before election ,DeGeneres & de Rossi bought a home in Cotswolds which is about two hours away from London but Trump’s victory sped up their plans .

Even ‌though they’ve moved ,they still haven’t figured out how much they’ll sell their Montecito house for .

Moving to British countryside seems like a choice towards living more quietly ⁤far away from‌ fame’s craziness .

This new chapter⁣ might give DeGeneres space to⁤ recover from recent struggles .

“The ‘Be⁤ kind’ girl wasn’t kind,”she joked during Netflix special For Your Approval.“If‌ I had ended my show saying ‘Go f*** yourselves,’ people would’ve been shocked finding out I’m actually nice.”
