Every day she hears loud noises from the garage, when her hubby’s secret is revealed, she’s in tears

Brad Soden, a former United States soldier and fireman, was living his dream with his wife Liz and their three children in Phoenix, Arizona. But their lives changed drastically on August 15, 1999, when a tragic accident occurred. Liz was driving their truck when a tire blew out, causing her to lose control. While their three boys escaped with minor bruises and Brad suffered a broken leg, Liz’s injuries were far more severe—she broke her back and became paralyzed from the waist down.

Liz was devastated by the news, fearing that her life was over and that Brad, who was then her boyfriend, would leave her for someone else. But instead, Brad proposed to her right there in the hospital. Liz said “yes,” and they soon married, beginning a new chapter in their lives.

Adjusting to life in a wheelchair was a significant challenge for Liz, especially since hiking was one of the family’s favorite pastimes. Liz quickly realized that her wheelchair couldn’t navigate the rough terrains they loved to explore. On one such hike, Liz was forced to stay behind, watching her family disappear into the wilderness, a moment that broke Brad’s heart.

Determined to ensure Liz could join them, Brad, drawing on his experience as a maintenance technician in the army, set out to build a special wheelchair. He spent countless hours in the garage, working tirelessly to create a silent, off-road-capable wheelchair. His perseverance paid off when he surprised Liz with a unique wheelchair equipped with tank treads, allowing her to conquer the rugged landscapes she once loved.

Brad’s invention garnered attention, including from NPC Robotics, who helped him develop a prototype. Thanks to modern technology, Liz’s new wheelchair is quiet, fast, and perfectly suited for off-road adventures. Now, when the family goes hiking, it’s Brad and the kids who struggle to keep up with Liz.

Brad’s story is a testament to his unwavering love and determination to overcome obstacles for the sake of his family. His innovation has not only transformed Liz’s life but also serves as a powerful reminder of the lengths we can go to support our loved ones.
