Growing Up in 1951: When School Was Out, I Was Always Outside!

Many tunes by The Chordettes, Doris⁣ Day,⁢ Billy Vaughn, Frank Sinatra, Frankie Laine,⁢ The ‌Mellomen and Bing Crosby are featured in the video. They represent the⁢ 1950s era.

The video takes ‌a ‌sentimental glance at⁢ what life ‍was ‌like back then. It starts with images⁢ of downtown. The‌ streets⁢ were filled with folks dressed in sharp suits and fancy gowns.

Numerous ‍pictures showed a perfect American family. ⁤It included a wife and husband along with two⁢ kids, usually a son and daughter. They would ⁣relax at ​home watching TV ⁢or visit the drive-in which was always busy.

Car culture was⁢ booming. Pictures of ​Chrysler, Ford, Hudson and Chevrolet cars were showcased. These vehicles were stylish and many were made for big families.

Also, American ​diners became very popular. People could be seen sitting in their cars in parking⁢ lots. McDonald’s ⁤had already started its business during this ​time.

Davy Crockett ​captured the nation’s⁢ attention; ⁤everyone loved the legendary tale of‍ this frontier hero! People wanted his⁢ famous hat.

The last few scenes show kids enjoying ⁢movies at theaters, children going to school and families attending ‍church on⁤ Sundays. A lot‍ has changed over time but some things⁢ still stay the same.
