When Leonard hit 18, his folks were excited to see him go to law school. They always pictured their son as a successful attorney, running his own practice. But when Leonard revealed that he wanted to be a musician, their dreams shattered.
Both Kenneth and Lily thought they knew what was best for him and wouldn’t support his choice of music as a career. This led to a big fight, after which Leonard left home.
For three long years, they didn’t speak at all. Lily and Kenneth tried reaching out but Leonard completely shut them out. They knew he was okay because some family members kept them updated on him from time to time. His parents hoped that one day he would reach out when he wasn’t mad anymore; sadly, that day never arrived.
On one Sunday morning that felt like any other for Lily and Kenneth, they got the worst news ever. The police called them with the terrible information that their son had died in a motorcycle crash.
After his sudden passing, Lily promised to visit his grave every single day.
The first day after the funeral she saw a teddy bear on the grave. She thought someone must have put it there by accident so she took it away and put flowers instead.
The next day there was another teddy bear!
She felt confused and kept thinking about who could be leaving those bears.
On the third day, she spotted a young woman holding a child at Leonard’s grave. Just as this woman was about to place yet another teddy bear down, Lily called out to her.
The young woman looked both sad and frightened. When Lily got closer, she started crying!
This made things even more puzzling for Lily! When she asked what brought her there, the woman explained that she was Leonard’s girlfriend and that the child was actually his!
Lily couldn’t believe it! She just stood there speechless—how could this be? She lost her dear son but now found out she had a grandson too!
The girl introduced herself as Carrie; she shared how they met while he worked at a bar trying to fund his music dreams; how deeply in love they fell; how they welcomed their baby together! Leonard wanted to make peace with his parents but sadly never got around to doing it before tragedy struck.
Lily invited Carrie over home where Kenneth joined them too! The three talked for hours & Carrie agreed for them both (Kenneth & lily)to be part of her child’s life!
