Jay Leno, famous TV host and comedian, recently had a surprising fall that resulted in some pretty shocking injuries.
The 74-year-old has faced a lot of bad luck lately, including severe burns he got in November 2022 when flames flared up while he was fixing one of his classic cars. In 2023, he also had a motorcycle accident that caused him to break several bones.
This time his injuries weren’t as serious – nor was the incident too grave – but the well-known star showed visible marks like a painful bruise on his face.
Leno showed up at the Comedy For Kobe event in Beverly Hills on Monday, November 18, sporting an eyepatch over his left eye. The whole left side of his face was bruised blue and black, and he had a bandage wrapped around his wrist.
Where did Jay Leno fall from?
The star told TMZ that he stayed at a hotel on top of a hill over the weekend and chose to eat at a restaurant located at the bottom. Instead of taking the mile-and-a-half path meant for walking, Leno decided to go straight down the hill because it looked “60 to 70 feet” high and “didn’t seem steep.”
“I fell down and rolled down,” Leno explained to TMZ. “Hit my head on some rocks which knocked me out,” he added before lifting up his eyepatch to show that one eye was swollen shut.
Jay Leno’s injuries
As mentioned earlier, this weekend’s scary event adds onto all the bad luck Leno has faced recently. Last year made news when he got clotheslined off his motorcycle; during that time too many broken bones were involved.
“I still have one broken collarbone plus two broken ribs and cracked knee caps so if you see me limping around here well you probably will for next few videos,” said Leno in a video back then.
“But like an idiot I’m going to fix [the Indian motorcycle] again because once guys hit forty they can’t really learn anything new; they just keep repeating their mistakes over & over again! Luckily I’m only 72; if I were older this could’ve been way worse.”
He continued: “You can still see some scars here [on my chin] & another scar on my neck [from where wire caught]; if I’d been going like fifty or something I might have lost my head so yeah pretty lucky there! Anytime you don’t lose your head is good luck.”
Back in 2022 though former host of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno went viral after images surfaced showing nasty burns from working on one of his cars.
“I got serious burns from gasoline fire but I’m OK now! Just need about week or two before I’m back on my feet,” he told Page Six back then.
