As you face arguments with your mother-in-law and pressure at work, it’s easy to lose trust in kindness. But sometimes, a stranger’s gesture of caring can remind us that kindness is still out there.
I became a mom at 17, and soon after, my son’s dad and I broke up. Without help from my parents, I found it hard to get by. Eventually, I ran out of food and was in a tough spot. I reached out to my friends for support while holding my 1-year-old son but they couldn’t help me.
Feeling lost, I wandered around with tears on my cheeks. That’s when a car stopped next to me; a man said “Get in, I’ll give you a ride.” At first, I was unsure but since it was raining and I had no other options, I took his offer.
While we drove along the road, I shared my problems with him. The man listened closely then surprised me by giving me $100! That cash helped me pay for daycare so that i could start searching for work again. We didn’t become rich or anything but his kind act changed everything for me.
Now it’s been 30 years since then; my son is all grown up now and often think about that man’s generosity! His simple act of kindness brought back my faith during one of the hardest times in life.
