Laughter is not just a response to something amusing—it’s a strong tool for our health, with advantages that go way beyond the moment.
Research indicates that laughter causes the release of endorphins, which are the body’s “feel-good” substances, creating an instant feeling of joy and relief. But the perks don’t end there.
According to studies from the University of Maryland, laughter helps heart health by boosting blood flow, which lowers stress and can help decrease blood pressure.
Laughter also serves as social glue, allowing us to connect with others.
It’s a worldwide language that breaks down walls, forming connections and building trust.
A study from Oxford University even hints that laughing together increases pain tolerance—proof that humor and human connection work together to build strength.
Laughing at jokes, whether in a group or alone watching your favorite comedy show creates a shared experience—a moment of lightness amid life’s difficulties.
Besides social benefits, laughter improves brain function.
A 2014 study in the journal Psychology and Aging revealed that humor boosts memory and reduces stress making us more relaxed and mentally sharp.
Think of it like exercise for your brain refreshing our minds & helping us view things differently.
So next time you hear a good joke (like this one below), don’t hold back! Let out that laugh & let humor bring happiness into your day. After all as science shows us—laughter really is one of the best medicines.
Elderly couple is divorcing…
“Listen,” an old man tells his son on the phone, “your mother & I are getting divorced. I’ve had enough after 45 years.”
The son shouts, “Dad what do you mean?”
He replies, “We can’t stand each other anymore. I’m tired of her face & sick of talking about this so call your sister.”, he says before hanging up.
The son feels worried now. He calls his sister. “No way they’re getting divorced!” s she yells. Without wasting time she calls their dad.“You aren’t divorcing anyone! Don’t do anything else! Tomorrow we’re flying home to talk about this! Don’t file any papers or contact a lawyer until then! CAN YOU HEAR ME?” Saying this she hangs up.
“Okay,” says the old man to his wife,“they’re both coming for Holidays & paying their own tickets.”
