Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, back in 1969, she spent her childhood exploring the South. From an early age, she was drawn to crime stories and dreamed of being part of a rock band or working with animals or maybe even joining the FBI.
The notorious Atlanta child killings that happened between 1979 and 1981 had a big impact on her. She became fascinated by this case which sparked her interest in criminal psychology.
A Curious Mind with Determination
Pauley Perrette’s thirst for knowledge led her to Valdosta State University in Georgia then onto John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City. To pay for school she worked hard at various jobs.
“I worked on one of those boats around Manhattan cooking for rich people upstairs,” Perrette remembers fondly. “I also bartended at clubs wearing combat boots and a white Mohawk while serving drinks.”
While many chased acting careers there , Pauley saw it as just luck when an opportunity came along during her studies.

In the early ’90s , Perrette started showing up on TV shows & movies but it was landing Abby Sciuto’s role on NCIS that made her truly famous . The show faced some challenges initially but eventually became one of America’s top drama series .
Her performance as Abby won over fans worldwide . She played this character across 354 episodes & also appeared as Abby on NCIS: Los Angeles & NCIS: New Orleans .
“The cast & crew love our jobs so much; we have amazing fans,” said Perrette during an interview . “Being part of such a successful show is really special.”

Even though Pauley found success with NCIS , she dealt with personal issues too . Her marriage ended badly leading to needing a restraining order against an ex-husband . There were also rumors about conflicts with co-star Mark Harmon .
Saying goodbye after nearly ten years playing Abby was hard for Perrette . In interviews ,she expressed how sad it made her feel leaving behind such an important role .
“I’m still mourning every day feels different; it’s tough,” admitted Pauley. “But I remind myself how grateful I am for everything.”
