The method to drive away an entire rat colony using just a handful of rice, without the need for harmful poisons.

How to Get Rid of Rats with Natural Methods

Rats are creatures that cause many problems in human life. They gnaw on food and belongings in the house. The reproduction rate of rats is also very fast, and the number of rats in a colony can increase rapidly in a short period.

Rats not only destroy property but can also spread dangerous infectious diseases.

To repel rats, most households use traps or rat poison. Rat traps can be effective initially, but over time, many people find that the traps lose their effectiveness because the rat colony becomes aware of the danger and becomes more cautious. Rat poison is effective in killing rats but is dangerous because it can cause accidental poisoning in children or pets if they ingest it.

In addition to these two methods, you can use natural ingredients to repel rats. These methods are safer and still provide good results.

How to Repel Rats with Rice

You can use rice to repel rats.

Ingredients Needed:

  • A small handful of rice

  • 1 tablespoon of cement

  • 1 tablespoon of sesame oil

Instructions:

  1. First, put the rice into a pan and roast it evenly until it emits a fragrant aroma and turns golden.

  2. Pour the roasted rice into a bowl and let it cool. Add one tablespoon of sesame oil and one tablespoon of cement into the bowl and mix well.

  3. Divide the mixture into several small portions and place them in small bowls around areas where rats are likely to pass by, such as in the kitchen, under furniture, or under the bed.

Roasted rice and sesame oil have an attractive smell that can lure rats. They will come to the rice looking for food. After consuming this mixture, the cement will absorb the water in the rat’s intestines. Over time, the cement will harden, causing the rats to feel full, stop eating, and eventually die.

In addition to roasted rice, you can use cold rice, flour, or cornmeal mixed with cement and sesame oil, all of which are effective in killing rats.

Other Methods to Kill Rats

1. Using Detergent Powder:

You can mix cold rice with some detergent powder and black pepper. Place this mixture where rats tend to appear. When rats smell it, they will run away.

2. Using Vinegar:

Vinegar can help repel rats. Soak cotton balls with white vinegar and place them in areas where rats frequent. The smell of vinegar will deter the rats from entering your home. When the cotton ball loses its vinegar scent, you can replace it with a new one soaked in vinegar to maintain its effectiveness.

3. Using Chili Powder:

Sprinkling chili powder around the house or in areas where rats tend to appear is an effective and simple way to repel rats.

You can also crush the chili and mix it with cooking oil in a 2:1 ratio. Then, add a few drops of dishwashing liquid and mix with some water. After stirring, strain the liquid and put it into a spray bottle. Spray this solution in areas where rats often pass by.

These natural remedies are effective in repelling rats and can be safer than traditional traps and poison. With consistent use, these methods can help keep your home free from rats.
