Authorities have shared a new update in the investigation into the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, who has been missing since January 31. While the search continues, officials say her family members are not considered suspects.
Nancy Guthrie, the mother of TODAY host Savannah Guthrie, was last seen after being dropped off at her home near Tucson, Arizona. Despite ongoing efforts by local and federal authorities, she has not yet been located.
Investigators have been reviewing multiple leads. According to reports, the FBI analyzed a glove discovered near Guthrie’s home that appears similar to one worn by a person seen in doorbell camera footage. Officials have not announced a confirmed suspect.
Family Cleared
Because a relative was among the last people to see Nancy before her disappearance, questions had surfaced publicly about possible family involvement. Law enforcement has now addressed those concerns directly.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos stated that Nancy Guthrie’s family — including her children and their spouses — have been fully cleared.
“The Guthrie family, to include all siblings and spouses, has been cleared as possible suspects in this case,” Nanos said. He emphasized that the family has cooperated with investigators and should not face speculation.
He added that the family members are victims in the situation and have been supportive throughout the investigation.
Ongoing Investigation
Officials say they are continuing to follow evidence and tips from the public. The FBI has increased the reward for information related to Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance from $50,000 to $100,000.
Authorities encourage anyone with credible information to contact law enforcement.
The search remains active as investigators work to determine what happened and to locate Nancy Guthrie safely.
