Bad News: Princess Anne

Princess Anne, King Charles’ younger sister, has been hospitalized after suffering minor bruises and a concussion during a “incident” at her residence, according to Buckingham Palace.

The Palace announced earlier today that Anne, 73, was hospitalized as a precaution after receiving the injuries, although the exact cause is unknown.

According to CNN, a source claimed that the princess was walking near horses on her estate in Gatcombe Park, Gloucestershire, western England, when the event happened.

Again, the exact origin of the injuries has not yet been revealed, but Princess Anne’s medical staff has stated that her injuries are consistent with a possible hit from a horse’s head or legs.

“The Princess Royal suffered minor injuries and a concussion as a result of an incident on the Gatcombe Park estate yesterday evening,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement Monday.

“Her Royal Highness remains in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, as a precautionary measure for observation and is expected to make a full and swift recovery.”

Emergency services were sent directly to Anne’s estate, where medical care was offered at the scene before the princess was transferred to Southmead Hospital for tests, treatment and observation.

The Palace added that King Charles “has been kept closely informed and joins the whole Royal Family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to The Princess for a speedy recovery.”

Princess Anne, a senior member of the Royal Family, has spent her whole life in the spotlight. However, she has never made headlines for her career, preferring to focus on her personal life and interests.

In her youth, Anne may have focused more on having fun and enjoying herself than on her royal duties. Nonetheless, she became – and continues to be – one of the most hardworking members of the royal family.
