Pecan Praline Cake

This rich and indulgent Pecan Praline Cake is layered with creamy praline cream cheese filling and topped with a buttery pecan praline glaze. It’s a Southern-style dessert that’s perfect for holidays, celebrations, or whenever you want something truly decadent.

Ingredients

Praline Cream Cheese Filling

  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese (Philadelphia or similar), softened
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp pure vanilla extract
  • 4 tbsp chopped pecans

Praline Topping

  • 1 1/2 cups evaporated milk
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups pecan pieces
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

Step 1: Make the Praline Cream Cheese Filling

In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese and butter together until smooth and creamy using an electric mixer.

Add vanilla extract and powdered sugar, then continue mixing for about 4 minutes until fully combined and fluffy.

Stir in the chopped pecans. Chill the mixture slightly while you prepare the cake layers.

Step 2: Prepare the Praline Topping

In a medium saucepan, combine butter, evaporated milk, and sugar. Stir well to combine.

Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to medium-low. Let it cook for about 15 minutes without stirring.

Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.

Add pecan pieces and mix until fully coated. Set aside to cool slightly.

Step 3: Assemble the Cake

Prepare your favorite yellow cake recipe and bake it into three layers.

Spread a layer of praline cream cheese filling over the first cake layer. Add the second layer and repeat, then place the third layer on top.

Step 4: Chill and Frost

Refrigerate the assembled cake for 30 minutes to help it set.

After chilling, spread the remaining praline cream cheese filling over the top and sides of the cake.

Return the cake to the refrigerator and chill for at least 2 more hours before serving.

Serving Tips

  • For best flavor, let the cake sit at room temperature for 10–15 minutes before slicing.
  • Toast the pecans slightly for extra depth of flavor.
  • Drizzle extra praline topping over each slice for a richer dessert experience.

Enjoy this buttery, nutty, melt-in-your-mouth Pecan Praline Cake!
